Story Land
Glen, NH
May 2005

I got to visit Story Land in Glen, NH. for the first time in many years.  While I don't remember much from my childhood visit, what I saw there on my visit this time was pretty impressive.  I do need to start by saying this is a very kids oriented park, and there is very little to do as an adult unless you have kids and want to ride around on the rides with them.  But, if you do have kids, this park is worth the price of admission!

From the road, this park looks like a very small park, but don't be fooled.  It took us a better part of the afternoon just to walk around and see everything, so with kids, expect it to keep you busy all day.  There is an overwhelming amount of stuff for younger children to enjoy and there is enough there to to keep young teens going for a while as well.  The parks web site places the age range between 2 and 12.

The staff there was very friendly and went out of there way to help provide us with information and answer questions about the park on our surprise visit (thanks for all the stuff Jim!).  The park was very clean, the landscaping looked great, and prices on everything were very cheap.  I believe I got a salad, fries, and a large drink for about $7.00 (and it was very good).  One thing I saw is that the eatery has a few sinks there so families can wash up before and after their meals.  They even allow you to bring your own food into the park to have a picnic!  That is something that is very rarely done.  There is absolutely no price gouging here, even on gifts in the gift shop.  You can have a really great time here with your kids without it breaking the bank, which I am sure is warm welcome to families on a fixed budged.

I was really surprised with how detailed the theme of the rides and park sections were.  You can see for yourself in the pictures.  Even small rides looked in tip top shape.  This park is a true NH treasure and has managed to survive when so many other smaller parks in New England could not.  Now I know why.
